Lamaure Afraid of Hawk, 44, was discovered unconscious in an alley behind the Brass Rail bar in Rapid City on the night of October 23, 2013. Responding officers had initially been called to handle a disturbance inside the bar, but found him outside instead; he was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead. The preliminary autopsy revealed he died from a severe blow to the head, and police officially classified his death as a homicide. Despite the investigation, no suspect was publicly named, and the case remains unsolved.
